Property Trends: Affordable Flats for ‘Rentysomethings’Our series on property trends continues with a look at ‘rentysomethings’. This time, the focus is on flats to rent in Canning Town, in particular, those within a new development from a company called Fizzy Living, which is offering high spec flats to rent in London for young, career-minded urbanites unable to buy within the capital after leaving university.

The term ‘rentysomethings’ was coined by Fizzy Living managing director Harry Downes. Fizzy Living operates as part of the Thames Valley Housing Association and are offering 25-25 year-old professionals cutting-edge apartments with broadband and Skype-enabled phones as standard.

The idea is to give young professionals in search of private flats to rent in Canning Town somewhere modern and good to live, without the threat of being moved on by landlords in six to 12 months. Tenancies are much longer, with Fizzy reportedly happy to commit to Assured Shorthold Tenancies for up to three or even five years.

So, what’s so great about these flats to rent in Canning Town?

There are 75 one, two and three bedroom flats to rent in Canning Town. All come with broadband (up to 2GB per month with the option to upgrade for an additional charge), Freeview and IP telephony included in the rent. The vast majority of flats have private balconies and all of the two bed apartments have two bathrooms. Tenants also have the option of renting spaces in the underground gated car park. Cycle storage is also available for those who prefer to cycle to work.

Fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms also come as standard. The kitchens have ovens with hobs, fridge freezers, microwaves and storage space. Bathrooms have baths with fixed shower attachments. For an additional charge to be added to the monthly rent, tenants can choose between one of three furniture packages: Essentials, Executive and Prestige. Furniture can be rented for 12 or 24 months and tenants can choose to buy the furniture at the end of the tenancy period. To make life easier, all furniture can be installed before the move-in date.

The rent includes all service charges.

Fizzy appear to be on a mission to change the face of renting and the nature of the private rental sector. Their aim is to keep prices for flats to rent in Canning Town reasonable and offer tenants good, modern services for their money.

The company has another development called ‘Fizzy Epsom’ which boasts 63 apartments on floors 2-6 with views of Epsom Downs and Wembley Stadium. Like the Canning Town building, most have balconies and there’s the option to rent private car parking and bike spaces.

On the surface, it all seems very attractive, although it all depends on your perception of what constitutes affordable flats to rent in Canning Town. One bed flats start from £1,050 per month, with two bed flats available from £1,450 per month.
