What Can You Get for the Average UK House Price? (Part 4)The average house price for the last quarter of 2011 was £167,354. Here, we take a look at what you can actually get for that figure in different locations around the UK. From London property to new homes in Hemel Hempstead and 2-bedroom flats in Gloucester, there are all sorts of options on the UK property menu.

In part four of ‘What Can You Get for the Average UK House Price?’ we take a look at Bolton, Swindon, Bristol and Bicester.

New Homes in Swindon

If you’re hunting for new homes in Swindon priced around £167k, there are a number of possibilities. Choose between 1-bedroom apartments, smart 2-bedroom coach houses and 3-bedroom terraced homes.

New homes in Swindon are less expensive than you might think for a town in Wiltshire that boasts easy access to the M4. For example, a 3-bed house in the new Grosvenor Place development is priced at around £164k.

If your budget is a little tighter there are other options available. New build 1 and 2-bedroom flats for sale in the heart of Swindon start at around £85k.

Bolton Property for Sale

If you’re hunting house in the Greater Manchester area, Bolton property for sale is definitely worth a look. This mill town benefits from easy access to Manchester city centre and close proximity to the the Pennines and some truly stunning parks. Here, you’ll find everything from flats to 5-bedroom houses and stone cottages. The housing stock is primarily made up of terraced and semi-detached housing. 

For £160k, you can pick up a 3-bedroom semi-detached family home.

For £80k, you can purchase a 1-bedroom flat. A 2-bedroom flat currently costs around £99k.

Bristol Property

Bristol property is a great choice if you’re looking for a location that combines country and city life. Here, you’ll find everything from plush waterside apartments to grand Victorian and Georgian houses, post-war semis and everything in between. You certainly won’t want for choice in Bristol. Although Bristol property prices are typically higher than those in towns such as Manchester or Birmingham, there are flats and houses available for or under the average UK property price.

There are a number of shared ownership schemes in operation for new build properties. For example, a 50 percent share of a 2-bedroom flat located in the Hartcliffe area costs £50k. For a similar property in the more desirable area of Kingswood, you’re looking at around £60k.

If you’re looking for previously owned, 3-bed houses the price bracket is quite wide. Bristol property that falls into this category is priced at around £150k. If you go to Avonmouth or Knowle, it’s possible to pick up a 3-bed semi or terraced house for around £105k.

Bicester Property for Sale

A stone’s throw from the heart of Oxford, the Cotswolds and within easy reach of the M40 and M1, Bicester property for sale appeals mainly commuters and families. Good schools, low crime rates and good shopping make it an excellent all-rounder.

It’s possible to pick up a 3-bed terraced family home under 1 mile from Bicester North railway station for around £145k. A 1-bed flat close to Bicester Town railway station is priced at around £110k.
