What’s So Great About Camberwell?

Located in the London Borough of Southwark this area has experienced mixed fortunes over the years but is now on the up again. Properties for sale in Camberwell appeal largely to creatives, hipsters and those looking for a trendy and edgy part of the capital to call home.

Bordered by East Dulwich, Peckham and Herne Hill, it’s home to the well-respected Camberwell College of Arts, along with numerous galleries, old school boozers, gastro pubs, terribly trendy bars, jazz clubs, Greek restaurants and inviting delis, along with High Street chain stores and takeaways. It’s easy to see why this area appeals to the arty crowd. It’s got just the right amount of grit and attitude, combined with creature comforts, lovely Victorian houses and green spaces.

Properties for sale in Camberwell tend to be cheaper than those in other arty, trendy areas like Shoreditch.

The population is mixed. Camberwell properties for sale are good for those who want to live in an ethnically diverse area. There are strong Afro-Caribbean and Greek Cypriot communities, along with students, hippies and a smattering of yummy mummies.

Properties for sale in Camberwell are good for those who want to live somewhere with good rail and bus services to Peckham, Kennington, Dulwich, Forest Hill, Waterloo, Elephant and Castle, London Bridge, Victoria and the City. Go to Denmark Hill for rail services. The extension of the East London Line to Denmark Hill is highly likely to make Camberwell a ‘one to watch’ for investors.
